Invisalign Treatment in Winnipeg

Let’s face it – your smile is one of the first things people notice about you, and it can be a big part of your first impression. If you don’t like your smile, you might cover it behind your hand, keep your mouth closed when you smile, or avoid social situations for fear of embarrassment.

If you’ve always wanted straighter teeth but have thought traditional orthodontics were a deal breaker, then Invisalign is right for you.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is clear, removable braces that give you the same results as traditional wire braces without the pain of metal brackets, constant uncomfortable tightenings, and nonstop appointments to make sure your teeth are moving correctly. Invisalign takes that all of that out of the equation!

How Does Invisalign work?

Invisalign trayThe Invisalign system uses a series of clear plastic aligners or trays to slowly move your teeth into the perfect position. The aligners are made specifically for your teeth. They are clear and, when sitting in your mouth, are almost completely invisible! For some patients, the only sign they’re wearing Invisalign is a slight lisp for the first few weeks of treatment, but even that often goes away.

Each Invisalign tray set is worn for two weeks. At that point, your teeth will have moved just a bit. You’ll then put in a new set of tray aligners to continue slowly moving your teeth into the correct position.

You’ll wear your aligners for around 22 hours out of the day, taking them out only to eat and brush your teeth.

How Often Do I Need to see the Dentist with Invisalign ?

You’ll have check-up appointments every 4-6 weeks but, unlike orthodontic visits for traditional braces, your appointments will be quick and painless. They’re simply so we can check your progress and give you your new trays.

How Long Does Invisalign Treatment Take?

Depending on the severity of your corrective needs, Invisalign can take anywhere from under a year to close to two. The average treatment time for most patients is on the shorter side, around 1 year. After treatment you’ll need to wear a retainer, usually only at night.

Who is Invisalign for?

Invisalign® can be used to correct the following types of dental problems:

  • Overly Crowded Teeth
  • Widely Spaced Teeth
  • Overbites: When the upper teeth extend over the lower teeth
  • Underbites: When the lower teeth and jaw protrude in front of the upper teeth
  • Crossbites: When the upper and lower jaws are misaligned
  • When teeth shift after traditional braces have been worn but a retainer wasn’t used properly to maintain changes

Invisalign can work for the majority of adolescents and adults who want a better smile. To learn if Invisalign is right for you, book a complimentary consultation with us by calling 204-809-4188.

If Invisalign is not the best choice for you or your child, we will be happy to refer you to a highly qualified orthodontist in the area that will help you find other treatment options.

How Much Does Invisalign Cost?

It depends on the length of treatment needed to straighten your teeth. No matter what the cost, we have payment plans for any budget with low monthly payments.

To get an exact cost, call us at 204-809-4188 to book a free consultation with the dentist. We’d be happy to go through all your options and payment plans. Consultations will only take about 20 minutes.

What are the Benefits of Invisalign?

  • Better Oral Hygiene — Because Invisalign trays are removable, you can brush and floss your teeth more easily than normal braces.
  • Eat all your Favourite Foods — You can take your Invisalign trays out when eating so you don’t have to avoid eating your favourite foods with Invisalign or worry about anything getting stuck in your braces.
  • Invisible Look— Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign is practically invisible. No one will be able to tell you’re wearing braces.
  • More Comfortable — Invisalign trays are made out of a thin, flexible material that will not irritate the inside of your mouth the way that traditional braces would.

What’s the Difference Between Invisalign and Braces?

Check out the Invisalign VS. Braces comparison chart below to see the main differences between Invisalign and Braces:

Why are Straight Teeth Important?

Straight teeth give you more than just a beautiful smile. According to the American Dental Association, straightening your teeth can actually significantly improve your overall dental health.

Crooked teeth create extra stress on your teeth and jaw, leading to chipping, fractures, and worn down teeth.

A bad bite might also cause extra force on the jaw, leading to pain in the jaw, earaches and headaches. Poor bite can eventually lead to gum recession, loose teeth, and eventually the loss of teeth.

Teeth that fit together properly are more likely to last longer and require less costly dentistry.

It’s also more difficult to remove plaque and bacteria from crooked teeth, which causes periodontal disease, receding gums, and eventually tooth loss. This bacteria can also move into the blood vessels, causing damage to the lining of your coronary arteries, increasing your risk for stroke and heart disease.

What Happens After Treatment Is Completed?

After your treatment, you will likely have to use a retainer to prevent teeth from gradually shifting back to their initial position. Retainers will likely only have to be worn at night.

The cost of retainers is included in our fee’s so no need to worry about purchasing anything extra once your treatment is complete.

Is Invisalign Treatment Painful?

Some people experience temporary, minor discomfort for a few days after beginning with a new aligner. This is normal and is typically described as a feeling of pressure and not actual pain.

But don’t worry! This is a sign that the aligners are working – moving your teeth gradually, helping you to achieve the final results. This discomfort typically goes away in a couple of days.

How Often Do Aligners Need to Be Worn?

Aligners should be work at least 20-22 hours per day for best results. Ideally aligners are only removed to eat and brush your teeth.

How Do I Get Invisalign?

At Avant Dental, we’re thrilled to be able to offer a free Invisalign consultation – call 204-809-4188 to book your free consultation now. Your treatment will start with a full exam at one of our four offices. We need to assess your oral health and your suitability as an Invisalign candidate before starting treatment. If you have any outstanding issues that need to be addressed prior to starting Invisalign, we can schedule those treatments during your first visit.

Once we’ve determined that you’ll be a good fit for Invisalign, we’ll start by taking a digital impression of your mouth. Using our intraoral cameras, we can build a 3-D model of your mouth that is fed into our Invisalign Outcome Simulator. This amazing piece of technology allows us to see your treatment results before we even start! Not only that, but we’re able to manipulate each individual tooth in the 3-D model, meaning that anything you don’t like can be changed to get you the results you really want!

After we plan your treatment, we’ll send your treatment plan and simulated outcome to an Invisalign braces producer. They’ll design all of your trays and send them to our office, and once we have the aligners back, you’ll come in for an initial fitting. That will give us one last chance to make sure that everything is perfect, and then you’ll be ready to start the journey toward your new smile!

We’ll still have you back for periodic checkups, and your exam and teeth cleaning schedule will continue like normal. Before you know it, you’ll have a straight smile that you’ve always dreamed of having, and the best thing about it is that no one will see anything but your smile!

If you’re ready to finally take the first step toward the smile you’ve always wanted with invisible braces, don’t wait another day. Call one of our four Winnipeg area offices today, or fill out our online appointment request form. We look forward to seeing you soon!
