WINNIPEG, MANITOBA, CANADA – The staff of Avant Dental Care, a premier Winnipeg dental practice, has raised more than $1,200 in preparation for a trip to Jamaica.
Four members of Avant Dental Care, including owners Drs. Nathan Jeal and Bao-Tran Nguyen, will travel to Jamaica later this month as part of its annual mission trip. Avant Dental Care asked patients to donate to the nonprofit organization, Caribbean Health Outreach Inc., for the trip. For every $20 in donations, patients received $100 off any dental treatment at Avant Dental Care. The funds were collected to cover the cost of care packages for Jamaican patients.
“Our community answered our call for assistance and has helped us create several oral hygiene goodie bags for our trip,” Dr. Nguyen said. “We are very fortunate to have such civic-minded patients who truly enjoy helping others achieve a healthy life.”
Only 15 percent of the Jamaican population has access to regular dental care. The Avant Dental Care doctors and staff will travel to the remote areas of the country, providing oral care and teaching citizens about proper oral hygiene.
Last year the doctors visited several patients and even met with a head of state to discuss best oral health care practices.
“This is a great opportunity for us to continue our support of those who do not have access to regular dental care,” Dr. Jeal said. “We hope to meet so many amazing people and work to improve the oral health of the communities we plan to visit.”
Avant Dental Care is a comprehensive dental provider that includes four dental offices around the Winnipeg area. The locations include Lorette Family Dental Care, Teulon Dental Care, Winnipeg Square Dental Centre and Broadway Dental Centre.
Drs. Jeal and Nguyen both hold dental degrees from the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg. They have completed hundreds of hours in continuing education across North America to provide all phases of dentistry to their patients.
Avant Dental Care provides care in general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, restorative dentistry and dental implants. The practice is a leading Winnipeg Invisalign provider, and the doctors travel extensively to stay current and learn from top educators in the field.
Avant Dental Care combines professionalism with state-of-the-art technology to provide gentle and complete dental care. The offices have computers in their operatories and use CEREC same-day crowns. Using CEREC, the Avant Dental Care dental team can prepare and set permanent crowns in just one visit.
In addition to cosmetic services, Avant Dental Care provides dental implants for patients with missing teeth. Dental implants can be used to replace single missing teeth or to secure dentures. Dr. Jeal recommends that patients consider dental implants because the implants preserve jawbone and anchor permanent restorations. Dental implants can be placed with a very high success rate, and they produce about 90 percent of the biting force of natural teeth.
